Father’s Day is coming up, and that means that it is time to start looking for the perfect gift to get your dad to represent just how much his presence means to you. Some dads prefer things that are store bought that they can use around the house, such as tools or the latest gadgets, but other dads are able to appreciate the unique ability of their kids to hand make the perfect gifts for them each year.
This woman has the perfect DIY gift that nearly every father would love — a homemade smoker. A smoker can be used for just about any meat to be cooked to perfection, and it takes barbequing to a whole new level. Here’s how you can make the same idea just in time for Father’s Day
What You’ll Need:
- 2 terra cotta pots
- 1 hot plate
- 1 pie plate
- 2 bricks
- Wood chips
- Grill grate
- 1/2 pipes for the handle
- Washers
- ½ inch coupling
- Pipe caps
What You’ll Do:
Thread the bottom of the pipe through a terra cotta pot, add the washer to the bottom and twist to tighten. Balance the other pot on the two bricks, and push the cord of the hot plate through the whole of this second pot. Place the tin pie pan directly on top of the hot plate, with the wood chips inside of the tin. Place the grate inside this secured pot, and place the first terra cotta piece on top of the entire thing. Plug in the hot plate, dd meat the grill, and your smoker is ready to go!
While a store bought smoker can cost you an upwards of $800, this DIY project will save you a nice chunk of change!
