Cinnamon rolls for breakfast is a no brainer.
It’s a really special treat that everyone is bound to love, and Crystal from Mrs. Happy Homemaker just took the classic breakfast food to the next level by making it into the most beautiful casserole you’ll ever eat!
“Why not create something full of cinnamon roll goodness in a breakfast casserole form,” Crystal wrote on her blog post about the recipe. “Think cinnamon rolls meet french toast. Yeah, you know that sounds heavenly!”
It’s a treat her whole family loves, and for good reason!
She started the recipe with pre-made, canned cinnamon roll dough, which she quartered into smaller chunks and dropped into the bottom of a casserole dish.
Then, she covered the tops of the cut-up rolls with some melted butter.
In a separate bowl, Crystal mixed together eggs, heavy cream, a lot of cinnamon, and some vanilla extract until it was well combined.
When that was finished being mixed, she went ahead and dumped it on top of the butter covered cinnamon roll chunks in the casserole dish.
Crystal is a fan of pecans over her rolls, so she chopped up a bunch of the nuts and sprinkled them over the rolls in the pan, which is of course optional.
She also drizzled some maple syrup on top of the whole thing to add to the french toast flavor of the casserole.
After those basic steps were finished, Crystal let the whole thing bake in the oven for about half an hour.
When it came out of the oven, to finish it off, Crystal grabbed the icing that came with the cans of dough and poured them over the top with a little more syrup.
The result is an amazing casserole that everyone is bound to love!
“You can’t beat how easy it is either,” Cyrstal wrote. “You’re gonna want to make this right now. At this very minute. Yes, it’s that good.”
