She’s only eight years old, but her voice is something else. This is Angelina Jordan and she’s singing Nancy Sinatra’s sultry classic “Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down),” one of my favorite songs of all time. It’s like she’s some reincarnation of Billie Holiday, who she’s often compared to; she’s definitely an old soul!
Angelina was just one-and-a-half years old when she discovered YouTube, right before she heard Whitney Houston for the first time. She started listening to plenty of jazz tracks and old standards, the influence of which you can definitely hear in her distinct voice. In May of 2014, Angelina won the year’s Norway’s Got Talent competition, which is the venue showcased in the video below.
With performances like this one, it’s clear that there are plenty of extremely talented kids all over the globe. I couldn’t hold back the chills watching this tiny performer in her pretty dress command not only the stage, but the attention and gasps of everyone in the room.
