Technology has hijacked family dinnertime. So to help bring families together for dinner, Australian pasta sauce brand Dolmio created the Pepper Hacker.

When you start to crack pepper, this genius devices shuts down TVs, turns off WiFi and disables mobile devices using “remote device management software.” Unbeknownst to the family members suddenly cut off from their beloved technology, the frustrated moms are the ones in control — who ultimately bring the family back together.

Watch the brilliant experiment below as families reclaim dinnertime. It’s pretty amazing to watch them actually connect with each other when they disconnect from their devices (despite the fact it’s technology that makes this all possible!)

This was intended to be a fun experiment, and though the pepper grinder technology is only a prototype, the message rings loud and clear.

Do you think this is a good idea? Let us know, and please SHARE this video and help bring families together at dinnertime!
