The art of swing dancing goes all the way back to the 1920′s. While there are plenty of young people who have taken it up as a hobby, it’s no surprise that the older generations still dominate the fun, energetic form of dance. Even so, I was notexpecting what happened when this couple took the floor!

Pete and Beluah Mae appear to be just like any other grandparents at first glance. When they entered the room, nobody— including me— expected them to do a whole lot of dancing. After all, they looked like they were having enough trouble just walking. But then the music started playing, and now I have to pick my jaw up off the floor! I haven’t seen an elderly couple with such great moves since these grandparents completely dominated the dance floor. They put on a fantastic show that combined incredible skill and style with a good bit of humor. In fact, I think they dance better than most of the younger people that I know! Something tells me that these two will never stop dancing, just like this woman who’s one-hundred years old and still moving beautifully.

I don’t know about you, but I sure wish that dances like this were more popular in today’s clubs. I bet the world would be a better place if we could all grow old with so much energy and enthusiasm for life. Way to go, Pete and Beluah Mae. You two are truly an inspiration!
