When Lisa and her husband learned they were blessed with twins, they never expected the roller coaster ride in store.
It wasn’t long before the expectant parents discovered that River and Piper were rare monochorionic monoamniotic twins, or “MOMO” twins. This is a case in which identical twins end up in the same gestational sac. In addition, the twins faced the danger of cord entanglement. As the fetuses grew, one umbilical cord formed a tightly wrapped braid around the other. Momo twins occur in a mere one percent of twin pregnancies.
At just five months pregnant, Lisa became an inpatient at the hospital, since she required such close monitoring. In the video below, Lisa invites viewers along on her pregnancy journey, and all the ups and downs along the way. From having to say goodbye to their beloved senior dog before the babies were due, to the six weeks spent in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit after the twins were born, it’s a fascinating and emotional video.
By the end, I had my fingers crossed that Lisa would be able to take her miracle babies home. Please enjoy, and SHARE their story with your friends on Facebook!
