Don’t spend hours in the kitchen making a complicated appetizer that will get eaten in minutes (Or, even worse, not eaten at all).
Taste should always be the main priority, of course, but these bacon, cheddar, and jalapeno pinwheels taste great AND are easy and fast to make.
Kristin from Yellow Bliss Road came up with them, and they’re going to be a new family favorite!
“They take just minutes to prepare and bake,” Kristin wrote on her blog post about the recipe. “I like the make a variation just as a fun lunch or snack (my kids love them), but they’re also a perfect finger food for parties.
To make the pinwheels, she started by rolling out refrigerated, pre-made crescent roll into one big sheet — not separating them into individual pieces.
Then Kristin also cooked up a few strips of bacon on the stove until crispy.
After it was made, she crumbled it up into pieces and mixed it with room temperature cream cheese and diced jalapenos.
“Now to be fair, I must tell you that I am a WIMP when it comes to spicy food,” Kristin wrote. “People usually look at me like I’m nuts when I tell them that something is spicy. So you might like spicy and you might want to add another tablespoon. It’s a personal preference. I also used canned jalapenos rather than fresh.”
She also mixed in some garlic salt and combined it all together.
Next, Kristin took the cheese, bacon, jalapeno mix and spread it on top of her sheet of crescent dough.
After that, she rolled the dough up tightly to make her wheel, which she cut into individuals pieces and spread flat on a foil-lined cookie sheet.
On top of the spread, she added shredded cheddar cheese and more bacon.
Finally, the tray went into the oven to make for about 10 minutes!
The result is pretty amazing, and it’s just about impossible to eat only one!
