Irene and Alice have been friends for 94 years. You read that correctly, 94. This caught the attention of television personality Steve Harvey, so he had the centenarians on his show to ask them a bit about pop culture. I was totally surprised by what they said.
All too often we hear about how out-of-touch with society the elderly can seem to be, and frankly, it’s hard to blame them. I think it’s safe to say that they prefer to exert their energy on more pressing matters than the latest technological gadget or the next pop princess. If there is anything this video proves, it’s that I shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, regardless of how old the book may be.
When Irene and Alice respond to these questions about modern day life, it’s apparent that they are much more up-to-speed than people might suspect. Topics ranging from Justin Bieber (who they hilariously refer to as “Beaver”), to selfies, to twerking; these women hold nothing back and had me cracking up the entire time.
