A 32-year-old Russian mommy blogger suffered a spinal injury while attempting the viral Nicki Minaj stiletto challenge that’s been sweeping TikTok.
Mariana Barutkina, an aspiring influencer with a modest following of around 1,200 on Instagram, took on the “Super Bass”-inspired trend just weeks after giving birth — but a frightening fall landed her back in the doctor’s office, according to TMZ.
A video shared by Barutkina on Instagram shows her attempting a one-legged squat in high heels — perched on a baby formula container balanced on a sauce pot, which rests on top of a marble kitchen island.
As the pot slips, the self-proclaimed newbie mommy blogger loses her balance and falls backward off the counter, crashing to the floor and suffering a serious spinal injury.
“I decided to start blogging — my very first content shoot — and now here I am, walking out of the doctor’s office diagnosed with a ‘Th9 compression bending uncomplicated fracture of the body,’” Barutkina wrote in the caption.
“The irony? Karma? Or just life, always testing our strength when we least expect it.”
Barutkina, 32, said the video was one of her first attempts at becoming an
influential blogger.
Barutkina was taking on the daring “Nicki Minaj ‘High School’ Challenge,” a viral trend where aspiring influencers and clout-chasers attempt to recreate the Bronx rapper’s signature pose from her 2013 “High School” music video.
To stand out, many participants up the ante by adding risky twists — performing the pose in heels while balancing on stacked dumbbells, wine bottles, or even traffic cones.
