Anca Faur, Wife of Buzz Aldrin, Dies at 66 — Two Years After Their Marriage: ‘Love of My Life’

Buzz Aldrin’s wife, Anca Faur, has died at the age of 66, just two years after the couple married.

The former astronaut and Faur’s family shared the heartbreaking news in a statement on Facebook on Wednesday, revealing that she passed away “peacefully” on Tuesday, Oct. 28.

“Dr. Anca Aldrin, wife of astronaut Buzz Aldrin, peacefully passed away last night with her husband and her son, Vlad Ghenciu, by her side,” her family wrote.

Faur and Aldrin marked the 50th anniversary of the moon landing at the White House on July 19, 2019.

The Post has reached out to representatives for the Aldrin family for further comment.

Aldrin and Faur were married in a small, private ceremony in California on January 20, 2023, coinciding with the astronaut’s 93rd birthday.

“On my 93rd birthday & the day I will also be honored by Living Legends of Aviation, I am pleased to announce that my longtime love, Dr. Anca Faur, & I have tied the knot,” Aldrin tweeted at the time.

“We were joined in holy matrimony in a small private ceremony in Los Angeles & are as excited as eloping teenagers,” Aldrin added.

This was not Aldrin’s first marriage. The three-time spacewalker had been married three times before tying the knot with Faur.

He wed his first wife, Joan Archer, in 1954. The couple had three children—James, Janice, and Andrew—before divorcing in 1974.

He married his second wife, Beverly Van Zile, in 1975, but the couple divorced three years later.

Just over a decade later, Aldrin found love again, marrying his third wife, Lois Driggs Cannon, in 1988. They remained together for 24 years before divorcing in 2012.

Aldrin gained international fame for making three spacewalks during his historic eight-year career as an astronaut.

Aldrin served as the Lunar Module Eagle pilot for the historic 1969 Apollo 11 mission, walking on the Moon for 19 minutes alongside Neil Armstrong.

He left NASA in 1971 and retired from the Air Force a year later. Aldrin is now the only surviving astronaut of the three who participated in the famed Apollo 11 mission.

Armstrong passed away in August 2012 at age 82, and Michael Collins died in April 2021 at 90.
