If we all took even a brief moment to look up from our busy lives, the world would be a better place. After all, we might notice someone who needs help and be able to help them. Just like a 52-year-old bus driver John Lunceford did…

John Lunceford is a bus driver in Kennewick, Washington, where the winters are quite cold.

John drives a school bus and every day he sees children passing through the doors. During the winter it’s important that parents make sure their children bundle up and wear warm coats, hats and caps so they don’t freeze. But sadly, not all families can afford to.

One day, a little boy got on John’s bus. Tears were running down his cheeks, his hands and ears were red and he wasn’t wearing a hat or mittens. John realized that he needed to do something.

Without missing a beat, John sat next to the cold little boy. He took off his own gloves, gave them to the boy and told him that everything would be alright. Then, John realized that he had to do more.

No child should be forced to be cold in the winter, and the friendly bus driver decided he would do the right thing.

Went to the store

After dropping off the little boy and his classmates, John went straight to a store and bought 10 hats and 10 pairs of gloves. Then, he went to schooland left the hat and gloves for the little boy and some other students who were in the same situation.

“I’m a grandfather, you know. No one wants a kid to suffer like that,” John explained on the school’s Facebook page.

The boy and his parents were overwhelmed by John’s heartwarming gesture. The school felt the same was and decided to pay tribute to John on its Facebook page. The post spread like wildfire and at the time of writing, over 18,000 people have liked, shared and commented on the post.

With his kind gesture, John made the world a little warmer. For him, it was no big deal. But in return, he felt the love of the thousands of people he made happy.
