In 2014, an auto repairman from Georgia was driving down Highway 72 when he noticed something out of the corner of his eye. Whatever “it” was, it was crawling along the roadside and dangerously close to the edge of the highway.

Bryant Collins stopped his vehicle, got out and realized it was a baby girl who was mere seconds away from emerging onto the busy highway, all alone. Bryant was shocked to the core.

The shocked repairman quickly scooped up the 15-month-old infant and called 911. He proceeded to stay with her for the next two hours.

When the baby started crying, he calmed her down by playing gospel music on his phone.

When Sheriff Kip Thomas arrived at the scene, he couldn’t believe his eyes. As it turned out, the infant had somehow crawled through the woods and ended up 300 yards from her home. The baby’s father was arrested.

Thomas called it a miracle “that a 15-month-old can go that far from her house, into the woods, fall down an embankment, wind up near a major highway, and really not get hurt that bad.”

Because of his act of heroism, Bryant had the opportunity to prove to the world that he is a changed man. The an ex-convict served 10 years in prison and spent his time reforming himself and getting clean. “When I was in prison, I made a very conscientious effort to change, and I did,” he told WXIA.

Bryant been clean and sober for over five years and works as an auto repairman. Now, he’s something else… a hero.
