Back in 2013, Anna took her 7-year-old sister, Arianna, to lunch at Chili’s in Midvale, Utah. Arianna is autistic, and so she likes things to be in a particular order at all times.
Cheeseburgers are Arianna’s favorite food, so when their server came by, Arianna was ready with her order. But as soon as the burger came, Anna noticed her little sister refusing to dig in — which was strange, and highly unlike Arianna. “Why don’t you want it?” Anna asked. Arianna said, “It’s broken. I need another one that’s fixed.” Anna realized the cheeseburger was cut in half, and therefore it was “broken” to her baby sister.
When the server came back to their table, Anna asked for another cheeseburger and explained that Arianna has autism. “I told Lauren I knew it sounded silly, but if we could just order an additional one we will gladly pay for it because there was nothing wrong with the one that was originally brought out,” Anna wrote in a now viral Facebook post.
The server’s reaction to the odd request was absolutely incredible, and it’s something Anna never expected…
