Though he lives his life out on the streets, a homeless man named John, a.k.a Philly, decided to make his holiday season as festive as possible for himself and his homeless friends. So, he set up a decorated Christmas tree by his tent underneath the Pontchartrain Expressway in New Orleans.

Strangers were quick to show their kindness. They stopped by to top off the tree with lights and a pretty bow. But much to Philly’s dismay, the tree was taken away by city workers who threw the tree in the trash. He desperately chased after the garbage truck, then watched his beloved tree get smashed to bits. All he had left was his blue tent and a slab of empty concrete. According to WDSU-TV, the city claimed that the Christmas tree was a code violation.

But when word spread across social media, the community was stunned. With so much neighborhood crime, was a homeless man’s Christmas tree really worth stealing? It wasn’t long before hundreds of people were rallying behind Philly, stepping up and surprising him and his friends in a way he never expected.

What happened next is enough to restore your faith in humanity! Please enjoy, and SHARE this wonderful ending with your friends on Facebook!
