A hearing impaired child got the opportunity to meet Mickey, Minnie and Pluto during a trip to Disneyland earlier this month, but what makes this story so sweet is his complete and utter shock when they began communicating with him through sign language!

The moment was made possible thanks to staff with Olive Crest, an organization that works to improve the lives of at-risk youth in California, Las Vegas and Washington state.

Each year, Olive Crest funds a trip to Disneyland for its foster and adoptive families, and the heartwarming encounter captured in the video below was taken during this year’s trip.

Because the unidentified child is unable to hear, Olive Crest arranged to have a sign language translator accompany him and his family on the trip. Mickey, Minnie and Pluto weren’t aware of the boy’s special needs before they met him, but managed to follow the translator’s lead.

In the video below, they’re signing, “It’s nice to meet you” and “I love you,” much to the child’s delight.

The little boy was so excited to be able to communicate with the trio of characters that he even gave them a hug. That’s normally not his style, so “the fact that he hugged both Minnie and Mickey spoke volumes to the joy he felt.”
