Every day, countless dogs are abandoned, mistreated, and left for dead all over the globe. They have nowhere to go, nothing to eat, and no one to take care of them, but they do have angels…

Eldad Hagar and his amazing team of angels at the Hope For Paws organization do everything in their power to get homeless, hurting dogs off the streets, one at a time. They find dogs like this Old English sheepdog, Shayna, wandering the tough streets of Los Angeles County and do their best to rehabilitate them and find them forever homes.

While some run into their rescuers’ arms at the first sight of food, most dogs haven’t had human contact in ages and are terrified, like this stray named PJ. So when the Hope For Paws team got an urgent call about a German shepherd trapped in the Los Angeles River, it was unclear how he would act. They were sure the dog had been dumped there by his previous owners, since there was no entrance or exit to the river for miles and miles.

Shockingly, the dog came right up to Hagar and accepted his snacks and affection, but he was scared of the leash. The rescuers had to try something extra to get this dog to safety. What happens next just melted my heart. I’m so happy “Biggie” is finally out of harm’s way with a newleash on life.
