Almost three decades after his death, original and new Elvis Presley fans love sharing his performances online, keeping the iconic performer seemingly timeless.
This video of the hit song “Return to Sender” hails from one of the performer’s Hawaiian-filmed movies, “Girls, Girls, Girls” that debuted in the U.S. in 1962. Presley, who portrayed a poor fisherman in the film, cleans up pretty well for this scene, where he sings in a nautical nightclub in a sharp black suit.
“Girls! Girls! Girls! is just that – with Elvis Presley there as the main attraction,” claimed a 1961 pre-release review by Variety.  “Hal Wallis’ production puts the entertainer back into the non-dramatic, purely escapist light musical vein.”
The song, about a returned letter, caused massive work for the U.S. Postal Service after the release of a commemorative Presley stamp in 1993. Fans mailed numerous letters to false addresses in hopes of receiving a “Return to Sender” stamp on the envelopes. Although the postal service replaced the phrase used in the song title years earlier, with “Undeliverable as addressed,” they did bring back the original phrase for a short time to the delight of nostalgic fans.
