How often do you stop and think about what police officers put on the line to keep the community safe? Depending on their jurisdiction, cops may face armed criminals or citizens who outright hate them.
If you’re not a cop, the risk they take for you is probably not at the top of your mind. While some people create initiatives to show their support, others, like these restaurant workers, decided to buy a group of officers their meal.
When Slidell police officers visit their local Outback Steakhouse for lunch and dinner, the manager Arline Wood has nothing but praise for the men in blue. And one waitress, Zoe, says “they’re the sweetest guys!”
Arlene always loves seeing police officers eating in her establishment. And she is extremely grateful for their continued patronage.
But the other night, the restaurant staff decided to do something extra special for a group of officers coming off a long shift.
Two Outback employees picked up the $67 check for four police officers and wrote a heartfelt note at the top of the receipt.
The note read:
“Be Safe. Thank y’all for y’all’s service! Enjoy y’all’s meal on us! ~Arlene & Zoe”
But little did the Outback employees know that their note and act of gratitude would go viral!
“Words can’t describe how this makes all of us feel. Thank you Ms. Arlene and Zoe for being so kind and showing your appreciation for law enforcement,” Slidell PD wrote on their Facebook page.
Arlene never expected to get any media attention. She just wanted to thank the officers for their service.
Now Arlene and Zoe hope their act of kindness inspires other people around the country to appreciate their police officers.
