Foxes are often depicted as fairly astute little creatures in several old children’s stories – I’m sure you’ve heard the idiom “as sly as a fox.” If the video below is any indication, these four-legged animals are certainly as intelligent as those stories claim.
The thin-looking fox, an inhabitant of Ukraine’s Chernobyl Exclusion Zone, is seen approaching people without any fear, presumably because he doesn’t come across too many in the area. (People evacuated after a 1986 nuclear disaster occurred.)
Similarly to the animals that stayed behind after a 2011 radiation leak at a Japanese nuclear plant, there are many roaming the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone. And this fox makes it clear that any lingering radiation hasn’t really affected his wits.
People from the Radio Free Europe team began feeding the little fox sausage and bread, and he seemed delighted. But instead of devouring the food on the spot like the hilarious jumping foxfrom California’s Turtle Bay Exploration Park, he did something pretty remarkable.
Wait till you see the fox’s final product at the :33 mark — you’d think he’s done it before. It’s easily one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen an animal do, especially one living in the wild.
