What makes for good service at a restaurant? Usually if our server gets to us promptly and is friendly, we’re happy to give a good tip.
This heartwarming story is about a server who went above his standard job duties to make a family feel welcome, and a mother’s thanks that went viral.
Lisa Bondurant was out eating with her son, Lee, who is 51 years old and has cerebral palsy.
He has trouble feeding himself, so Lisa usually helps him out with it.
A server noticed that it was a juggling act for Lisa to eat and help feed Lee at the same time and, in Lisa’s words, “He insisted on helping showing Lee total respect. Let’s me know there are still decent and compassionate people left in our country.”

She posted a photo to show the respectful man who helped them out.
The manager of the restaurant seems to appreciate what a gem he has on his hands, saying, “We’re fortunate to have somebody like him working for us.”

We will name the restaurant and the server so the next time you are in Raleigh, North Carolina you can go in and thank them for yourselves: The restaurant is 42nd Street Oyster Bar, and the server goes by the name of Five. This is where we’d make a joke about giving Five a high five, but we’ll bet he’s heard them all before.

We hope that Five’s example of thoughtfulness and respect starts a trend of people helping out where they can.
