Sarah Paulson, a close friend of Diane Keaton, was spotted in tears as she left the late actress’ Los Angeles home on Saturday, just hours after it was confirmed that the “Family Stone” star had passed away at 79.
The 50-year-old “American Horror Story” star appeared visibly distraught during the visit and was also seen embracing someone outside the home.
Later, Paulson was photographed sitting inside a black vehicle, driving away after leaving Keaton’s residence.

Paulson and Keaton had been close friends for many years. In July 2021, they were photographed having dinner with Paulson’s longtime partner, Holland Taylor, in Beverly Hills, California. Later that year, the trio was also spotted at Il Piccolino restaurant in West Hollywood.

In a June 2021 interview with Interview Magazine, Keaton answered questions from famous friends, including Paulson. Playfully, Paulson asked, “What person, place, or thing makes your heart sing? (You can say me),” to which Keaton replied, “Of course, Sarah, you make my heart sing. My friends make my heart sing. My kids make my heart sing. But also, Lillet Blanc makes my heart sing. With lots of ice.”
Since the news of Keaton’s passing, numerous celebrities have shared heartfelt tributes to the legendary actress.
In 2021, the pair were photographed enjoying dinner together on several occasions.
Keaton’s Father of the Bride co-star, Steve Martin, shared a black-and-white photo of the actress on X, simply writing, “Loved.” He added, “La dee da, la dee da,” referencing a famous line from her 1977 film Annie Hall.
Mandy Moore also paid tribute to Keaton, reflecting on their work together 18 years earlier in the 2007 romantic comedy Because I Said So. “They say don’t meet your heroes, but I got to work with one of mine and even call her ‘mom’ for a few months. An honor of a lifetime,” she wrote, sharing a photo of them from the film.
The Oscar winner’s cause of death has not yet been revealed.
“What an incandescent human Di is and was. I am so sad she’s gone for all the reasons, but also because it felt like she’d be here forever, dazzling us with her talent and charm (and her style, c’mon)!!! One of the very best to ever do it. All my love to her children and loved ones,” one tribute read.
Other stars, including Bette Midler, Rosie O’Donnell, and Goldie Hawn, also shared heartfelt messages in her memory.
Keaton never married, but she famously dated Al Pacino, Woody Allen, and Warren Beatty. She became a single mother in her 50s, adopting daughter Dexter in 1996 and son Duke in 2001.
