Susan Jordan has quite the reputation. She has been an adored principal for 22 years. In fact, her desire to help students be their best is what caused many families to move into the area so that their children can attend Amy Beverland Elementary School. That’s why it came with great sadness, but not with much shock, that Susan sacrificed her life to save several students.

When the principal noticed a school bus jump the curb — in what investigators are calling a freak accident, the bus had even recently passed a safety inspection test — she pushed several students to safety before being fatally hit by the bus.

“That’s just the type of person she was,” superintendent Dr. Shawn A. Smith told WISH TV. “She was here every day, never missed a day of work — just a phenomenal individual that truly cared about children… Quite frankly, ladies and gentlemen, we’re talking about a legend of education.” While two 10-year-olds were critically injured in the incident, things could have been much worse if Susan weren’t there, the way she always was, to help those kids. Don’t be fooled by the men with capes; heroes come in all forms, and sometimes the only superpower anyone needs is love.

Please SHARE to give Susan the hero’s recognition and condolences she deserves.
