Dogs didn’t get the name “Man’s Best Friend” just because they enjoy hanging on the couch with us.

You really can’t argue that the very best part of having a dog in your life is that they are a forever friend. Unlike humans, dogs don’t judge us for our mistakes, they don’t question us, and they don’t ask for anything in return for their loyalty…just love.

A dog’s love is unconditional. They become our family. That’s why losing a pet can be just like losing a part of ourselves. For Jason Wood, it was much, much more.

Wood had a rough past. He was in prison and he says in this video that he was “sick, poor and hungry,” but he got through the hard times with help from his best friend, Oden.

In this touching short film, Wood reflects on his life with Oden while preparing for his final journey to the vet. Oden has lost his long fight with cancer, and Wood is devastated, because there is nothing more he can do for the friend who gave him so much.

Even if you aren’t a dog lover, this poignant clip about love and loss is guaranteed to move you.

Please SHARE with anyone who might be able to relate to Wood and Oden’s story — it can help in so many ways!
