Usually when people sing in the car, it’s just for fun, but when this girl sings in the car, it’s a full on jaw-dropping performance. Her name is Hollie Cavanagh and she may look small, but she has a huge voice. I was definitely taken aback as soon as she started singing; her vocals are not only beautiful, but soulful as well.
Cavanagh was only 17 years old when this video of her singing “If I Aint Got You” by Alicia Keys was recorded. The young singer was born in Liverpool, but made her way to America to pursue her career as a songstress. Cavanagh competed on the eleventh season of American Idol, where she quickly became a crowd favorite and rose within the competition to take fourth place. According to a follow-up article published by USA Today, Cavanagh moved to Los Angeles in 2013 to further develop her music.
What I love most about this video is the fact that a typical car ride turns into an extraordinary display of talent in such a casual setting. Cavanagh doesn’t have a mic or any musical equipment other than the stereo, and she hits every note perfectly. I know that I’ll be keeping an eye out for more of the singer’s work in the future. I have a feeling she’s going to make it big.
