During a 2015 taping of “The Ellen Show,” the talk show host stunned one audience member, Mary, with a call from her husband, Chris, who was away from home for military training in Missouri. Chris revealed that due to certain conditions, he wasn’t able to come home for their 10-year wedding anniversary. It was the only anniversary he had ever missed.
After hearing the heartfelt exchange, DeGeneres invited Mary to come onstage and share her story. Mary revealed that the family’s car was on its last legs because she has to drive six hours — each way — if she ever wants to visit her husband. DeGeneres then surprises Mary and her family was a brand new Ford Escape. ..but trust me, the gifts didn’t stop there.
I won’t spoil it for you, but the magical moment at 3:37 actually makes this woman absolutely freak out to the point her mic rips off her sweater and Ellen has to catch it! Seriously, you don’t want to miss this priceless reaction.
This isn’t the first time Ellen has surprised a military family, and it certainly won’t be the last.
