A Missouri restaurant got its revenge on a dine-and-dasher who tried to scam them with a fake bill by sharing the customer’s photo on social media.
Michael’s Bar and Grill in Manchester, about 20 miles outside St. Louis, posted an image of the customer on Facebook after discovering the costly mistake their servers made on Sunday.
The customer had ordered a burger and several sides before attempting to pay a $40 bill with what the server thought was a $100 note, First Alert 4 reported.

The incident unfolded when a busy server accepted what she thought was a $100 bill for a meal. Upon fetching change, she discovered it was actually a novelty $1,000 bill. By the time she returned, the man had left with a to-go bag of food and driven off in his Lexus.
The bill, known as “ancestor money,” is symbolic currency in Chinese tradition, burned during rituals so ancestors can enjoy material possessions in the afterlife.
After Michael’s posted the man’s photo online, it seems the public shaming worked. The next day, the man returned, paid his bill, apologized, and even left a tip, reportedly embarrassed by the attention his actions had drawn.
