In 2000, a UK woman named Claire began experiencing numbness, swelling and paralysis. She was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) at the age of 19.
There is no cure for MS, but doctors put Claire on a strict regime of medications to lessen her weakness and vision problems. Five months later, Claire returned to work knowing another MS attack could strike at any moment. And just when she gave up all hope for a normal romantic relationship, she met a co-worker named Paul. Things were going well for Claire. She fell in love. Her MS went into remission. And after four years of dating Paul, Claire birth to a healthy baby boy. Thankfully, she had a normal pregnancy.
But in March of 2005, tragedy struck. Clair’s MS relapsed, paralyzing her body. As a result of the constant bed rest and prescription steroids she took on a regular basis, she also gained 7-10 pounds… yet her menstrual cycle remained regular.
Claire woke up in the middle of the night bleeding, and with severe cramps in her lower abdomen. “I feel like I’m in labor!” she screamed. Paul ran into the bathroom — just as Claire gave birth to a baby girl while sitting on the toilet. The couple had no idea she was pregnant!
But Claire and Paul were in for another shock, making this one of the craziest pregnancy stories we’ve ever heard.
In 2006, the Mirror reported that Claire, Paul and the rest of the family were doing just fine.
