Spanish figure skater Olivia Smart may have missed out on a medal in last week’s ice dance competition, but she won’t be leaving the 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Games empty-handed.
Former Team USA Olympic ice dancer Jean-Luc Baker proposed to Smart on Saturday—and she said yes.
The couple shared the joyful news on Instagram this Valentine’s Day.

While Smart and Baker had long been friends off the ice, they were fierce competitors on it. The two faced each other at two World Championships and the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics before their romance blossomed.

At the 2022 Winter Olympics, Smart finished eighth in the ice dance event—three places ahead of Baker.
After the competition, Baker confessed his feelings for Smart. Four years later, on Valentine’s Day, he made it official with a proposal—perfectly timed for the holiday of love.

Olivia Smart, a two-time Olympian, recently finished ninth in the ice dance event with her partner Tim Dieck.
