The incredible Budweiser Clydesdales are born and bred in-house as part of a multi-million dollar operation. Today, their Superbowl ads remain some of the most highly anticipated and revered. Jeff Knapper is the man who breeds, feeds, and trains these majestic animals at the sprawling Warm Springs Ranch in Booneville, MS. Jeff is at the helm of the entire operation, taking care of the daily needs of 175 Clydesdales around the country. These horses are his life.
Only males are eligible to become a Budweiser Clydesdale, but that didn’t stop a little baby foal from becoming a star in her own right. In the video below, you’ll meet Darla — a gorgeous Clydesdale horse who gave birth to a foal in 2013. Within a few weeks, Darla’s daughter already weighed 200 pounds and was prepping to become the star of Budweiser’s 2013 award-winning Super Bowl XLVII commercial entitled “Brotherhood.” After the commercial was seen by more than 100,000 million people in the US alone, the iconic brand turned to social media to invite fans to help name the starlet. Thousands of suggestions later, Budweiser named her “Hope” — a nod to the optimism of her commercial in which a trainer reunites with the horse he raised.
