Brad Pitt has adopted a new outlook on life following his divorce from Angelina Jolie.
The “F1” star recently opened up about life’s struggles during an episode of Travis and Jason Kelce’s “New Heights” podcast, expressing his desire to move forward and leave the past behind.
A source told Us Weekly that the divorce had weighed heavily on him for years. “The divorce is something that had been controlling his life for so many years,” the source said. “He loved her and he knows he made mistakes.”
Brad Pitt has embraced a fresh perspective on life after his split from Angelina Jolie.
Brad Pitt and the “Tomb Raider” star began dating in 2004 and tied the knot a decade later. However, their marriage lasted only two years. Over the course of their 12-year relationship, they built a family and now share six children: Maddox, 23; Pax, 21; Zahara, 20; Shiloh, 19; and 16-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox.
After their split, Pitt’s relationship with his children became strained, as he and the “Girl, Interrupted” actress spent years locked in a bitter custody battle.
The events surrounding their split — including the 2016 plane incident and Pitt’s struggle with alcoholism — “turned the kids against him,” a source said. However, Pitt “doesn’t blame [Jolie] for everything,” the insider added.
The “Fight Club” star hopes to mend his relationship with his children. “His biggest regret is that he can’t repair this,” the source revealed. “The case is over, but there are no winners.”
“To have that behind him is a relief. But on the other hand, it’s been difficult for him because his relationship with his kids isn’t strong.”
The source revealed that his “biggest regret is not being able to repair” his relationship with his kids.
Since the split, the “Moneyball” actor, 61, has focused on his sobriety, which has reportedly transformed his outlook on life.
“Ever since he stopped drinking, everything has changed,” an insider shared.
During a June appearance on Dax Shepard’s “Armchair Expert” podcast, Pitt revealed that he attended AA meetings while “pretty much on [his] knees” and desperate to “wake the f–k up.”
The Golden Globe winner reflected, “I was trying anything and everything, anything anyone threw at me… It was a difficult time. I needed rebooting.”

However, Jolie, 50, “is still not in a place where she’s willing to forgive him and may never be,” an insider told Us Weekly in a report published Thursday.
The source added that Pitt, now in a serious relationship with Ines de Ramon, feels “relieved that this [divorce] is over.” Yet, “the lasting impact is something he’s going to carry with him forever.”
A representative for Pitt did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
