Simone Biles’ husband, Jonathan Owens, revealed that he narrowly avoided a brazen theft while shopping in Milan during the Winter Olympics.
The Chicago Bears safety, standing 5-foot-11 and weighing 204 pounds, recounted the tense encounter with the would-be thief in what he called a “crazy” experience on Sunday.
“Someone actually tried to snatch my shopping bag in Milan. Luckily, out of habit, I had it looped around my hand, so he couldn’t grab it and ended up running off… still, it was wild,” Owens shared on X.

The 30-year-old admitted he was ready for a potential theft, having watched TikTok videos warning about pickpockets in Milan.
“Should’ve seen his face when he realized I turned around and he couldn’t grab it,” Owens said.
When a fan asked if he had thought about chasing or tackling the would-be thief, Owens joked that the man was “not fast at all.”
The 30-year-old said he was ready for a potential theft after watching TikTok videos about pickpockets.
“Honestly, it was hilarious how slowly he started running once he realized he couldn’t grab the bag from my hand,” Owens said. “I’ve seen too many TikToks of that happening, so I was prepared.”
It’s unclear whether his Olympic gymnast wife was with him during the incident.
Earlier on Sunday, Biles shared a photo of herself shopping with her husband at a Bottega Veneta store.
