CENTEREACH, N.Y. (AP) — Police in a New York City suburb have arrested a man described as a “social media prankster” after viral videos showed him dumping large amounts of food on his head and fleeing, leaving others to clean up the mess.
Kyle Vazquez, 21, was taken into custody Monday in Centereach, Long Island. He faces eight charges, including six counts of recording individuals without their consent and two counts of criminal tampering, according to police.
The Coram resident pleaded not guilty during his arraignment on Tuesday and was released, with his next court appearance scheduled for June 30, according to prosecutors and court records.
Suffolk County police reported that Vazquez dumped a tub of eggs on his head outside Ralph’s Italian Ices in Centereach on April 29. He then fled the scene in a car, leaving broken eggshells scattered at the entrance.
The following day, Vazquez pulled a similar stunt at a local Chinese restaurant, pouring a bucket of beans over his head while shirtless in the middle of the establishment.
In May, Vazquez reportedly visited three homes, asking residents to use their bathrooms. He then caused disturbances and secretly recorded the residents without their consent, police said.
Vazquez shared videos of these stunts and many others on his TikTok account, which has over 100,000 followers.
The Legal Aid Society of Suffolk County, representing Vazquez, did not respond to an email requesting comment Tuesday.
