A Patterson High School student was filmed throwing a poor kitten into a river. the video went viral last year with people feeling outraged about this horrific action towards a helpless little creature. Garret, Haile, the 18-year-old student was minor at the time the video was shot. However, he was arrested last week and charged with animal cruelty, a felony charge.
Haile use the Snapchat app to film and share his story. It’s still unknown if the cat survived. Nicole Pinheiro, who shared the video, was shocked and distressed by Haile’s actions and said: “My heart, it just left my body. And I showed my mom, and she burst into tears. She was like, ‘I can’t believe that this is the world right now.’”
After she posted it, it was shared again by thousands of furious folks on social media. She told Heavy: “The video I posted I screen recorded (it’s a feature that the iPhone has) because people were wondering how to share it. So I recorded and shared it with the news stations because I felt it something that needed to be seen, so he can pay for actions. Which that is exactly what happened. He got caught.”
“Everyone on the watch page was tagging the local police department and even calling them. So he would have been caught regardless. But sometimes things like this get looked over (not by purpose) but they do. So I shared it with the local news stations and they all wrote me back. Saying ‘thanks for the tip, we are looking into this.’”
The Patterson PD are searching for the person behind the camera of the video. Like Haile, this person will be caught and brought to justice too. They received tips identifying Haile as the guy in the video. People contacted the department privately through Facebook messenger, notifying them of the existence of the disturbing post and the person responsible.
The clip is quite shocking to see. Haile holds the sweet kitty by the scruff of its neck. With gloves on his hands, he points the cat toward the camera. The person behind the camera can be cheerfully heard announcing: “Welcome to badass, and this is Felipe, the flying cat.”
Haile then hurls the cat into the water.
Haile clearly wanted attention with his stupid act. It’s indeed accomplished that, but it’s also gotten him into hot water.
Have you seen videos of people committing cruel acts against animals or people? Did you report them, even if you didn’t know the people involved? If you recognized someone in a shocking video, would you inform the police about what they’ve done?
