Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem’s expensive Gucci bag, containing $3,000 in cash, was stolen during a dinner at a Washington, DC, restaurant on Sunday night.
Noem, 53, had been dining at The Capital Burger, located about a mile northeast of the White House.
A source close to the investigation told The Post that Noem had just finished paying when she felt something brush against her leg. She initially thought it was one of her grandchildren, but soon realized her bag was gone.

Kristi Noem posted this photo on Easter before her personal bag was stolen during a dinner outing in DC.

DHS Secretary Kristi Noem’s bag was stolen during a visit to a downtown Washington, DC, restaurant.
“Her entire family was in town, including her children and grandchildren—she had withdrawn the cash to treat them to dinner, activities, and Easter gifts,” DHS said in a statement.
Noem’s bag also contained her driver’s license, passport, DHS badge, makeup, checks, bank card, healthcare card, medication, and apartment keys, according to a DHS spokesperson.
A Gucci B large shoulder bag, similar to the one Noem was carrying, retails for $4,400 on the brand’s website.
Inside the stolen bag was a Louis Vuitton Clemence Purse, valued at $600, according to a local police report.
The larger bag had been placed on the ground at Noem’s table when it was taken, the report stated.
Security footage reviewed by the Secret Service showed a white man wearing an N95 surgical mask, dark pants, a fur-collared jacket, and a ball cap stealing Noem’s bag before leaving the restaurant. As of Monday afternoon, the suspect had not been identified.
The suspect appeared to look around the restaurant before grabbing Noem’s bag, covering it with his jacket, and quickly exiting, sources familiar with the video said.
The Secret Service, which provides security for the secretary as it does for the president and other high-ranking officials, was involved in the investigation. It was unclear whether the security detail was present inside the restaurant at the time of the theft.

The Secret Service has been reviewing security footage and assisting the DHS secretary with monitoring her finances.
The protective agency has initiated an investigation to track any use of Noem’s financial assets.
A Secret Service spokesperson declined to comment when reached by The Post.
Noem, who previously served as governor of South Dakota, has been heading DHS since late January and has remained highly visible in her role, even accompanying agents on raids.
Last month, she visited the Terrorism Confinement Center megaprison complex in El Salvador, where she issued a warning to gang members attempting to enter the U.S. illegally, cautioning that they could end up in the notoriously harsh facility.
As DHS secretary, Noem is responsible for overseeing one of President Trump’s top priorities in his second term—border security.
The Department of Homeland Security also manages agencies like the Secret Service, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and the Coast Guard.
According to financial disclosures filed late last year with the Office of Government Ethics, Noem’s estimated net worth is around $1 million.
