Have you ever felt like our cat overlords are just biding time before they decide to take over completely? Of course you have. Those long stares, the complete indifference to our existence…these aren’t purely coincidental.
One hilarious ad for Cravendale Milk taps this theory with a little imagination to bring us an imagined cat video of epic proportion. What if, they posit, cats were simply holding out for opposable thumbs? Surely that would be the last step in their plot for total domination, would it not?
Here’s how this plays out: A man pours himself a bowl of cereal as his cat looks on from across the room. The next time he looks up, his cat is directly in front of him (as they’re wont to do), eyeing the milk he’s adding to his breakfast. “Why do cats stare while you’re pouring milk?” asks the video’s voiceover. “It’s like they know it’s only a matter of time. Time — the only thing between them and opposable thumbs.”
From there, things get a little wild. Lest I ruin the fun of watching this absurd ad play out, I’ll leave you to see for yourself. But let us heed this warning and mind our cats, shall we? It’s just a matter of time, after all…
