Zachary David “Zach” Sobiech was diagnosed with osteosarcoma (a bone cancer) when he was 14-years-old. He underwent 10 surgeries and 20 rounds of chemotherapy, but it wasn’t enough in the end. He died on May 20, 2013 at 18-years-old.

After Zach started treatments, he started writing music and even formed the band “A Firm Handshake” with his friends Samantha “Sammy” Brown and Reed Redmond. In May of 2012 he was told he would have a year to live. Later that year he and his band released his song “Clouds” and it quickly became an internet sensation. Early in 2013, they digitally released their debut album “Fix Me Up.” It did well in the US, UK, and Canada.

This video about the last days of Zach’s life is 22 minutes long, but it is full of so much emotion and so much hope. It won’t take long before your eyes start tearing up. Check out the video to follow his last days. There is also a special surprise concerning his song, “Clouds,” at 15:50.
