Haven Dockins, a foster child, has had her fair share of disappointments. Growing up without a permanent family and home has been difficult for this sixteen-year-old teenager. She has spent 10 years in the foster care system, bouncing from home to home. While holidays have generally been a letdown for her, one Christmas turned out to be an unforgettable memory for Dockins.
As Christmas approached, Dockins had only one wish for Santa Claus. When most children and teens her age wanted gifts and presents, Dockins wanted to be adopted. Thankfully, her soon-to-be family had a special surprise up their sleeves.
Dockins appeared in family court with her foster family one morning, and the experience would be life changing. She had appeared multiple times in the and did not think this time would be any different. However, when the judge called her name to come closer, Dockins immediately burst into tears when she heard what he had to say.
The judge told her that she was going to be adopted! She could finally have a family she could call her own. This is the best Christmas gift, ever!
