That’s what the bloggers from Freshdreamer were thinking when they came up with a recipe for a slow cooker version of chicken and dumplings!
Not only does the recipe require no heating of the oven, but it is also so simple to make and turns out tasting fantastic!
To throw the recipe together, all you need to make it is boneless, skinless chicken breast, butter, cream of chicken soup, chicken broth, onion, and refrigerated biscuit dough.
First, place the chicken breasts in the bottom of a clean Crock-Pot, and add the butter directly on top.
Over the chicken broth, dump both of the cans of cream of chicken soup and also the chicken broth.
After all of that has been added, throw in some chopped or dried onion along with whatever other spices you want to add for flavor. Freshdreamer used dried parsley along with their onion.
When all of those ingredients are in the pot, let everything cook on high for about 5 hours until the chicken is cooked through.
Once the timer nears its end, take out the refrigerated biscuit dough and cut each one into little cubes.
Open the lid of the pot, shred the chicken breasts, and dump in the dough.
Then, let the whole thing cook for another hour.
After that, the whole thing should be complete with perfectly cooked dough for a delicious biscuits and gravy recipe.
This is such a simple meal to make with few ingredients, but it really is the perfect, easiest comfort food that you can enjoy to make for your family year-round.
