Do you have some overly ripened bananas sitting on your counter that you didn’t quite eat in time?
Well, that most only mean one thing: it’s time to make banana bread!
There are so many different, wonderful banana bread recipes to choose from, but this one has a couple of twists that will leaving you trying to resist eating the whole pan!
Kimberly from The Daring Gourmet shared her recipe for a caramel banana upside-down bread that will make your head spin!
“I was craving something cakey… something caramelly,” Kimberly wrote on her blog post about the recipe. “I noticed the stash of bananas in my fruit basket and thought about making some kind of caramelly, carby banana thing. Some kind of twist on you standard ol’ banana bread. Then the upside-down concept occurred to me.”
She used her own, favorite banana bread recipe for it, but really you can apply the modifications to whatever your favorite recipe is!
Kimberly first layered brown sugar on the bottom of her loaf pan and threw some pieces of butter on top.
Make sure you grease the bottom and sides of your baking pan before beginning so that nothing sticks!
She let the two combine in the oven for a few minutes before adding rows of sliced bananas on top.
With that prepped, Kimberly moved on to make her banana bread recipe per usual in a large mixing bowl.
When all of the ingredients were added and evenly combined, she then poured the mixture right over the sugar, butter, banana layers.
Then, the whole thing went into the oven to bake for the regular amount of cooking time that her banana bread recipe called for.
“Let the bread sit in the pan for about 20 minutes before inverting it onto a cake platter,” Kimberly wrote.
When it had finished cooling and Kimberly flipped it, the bread was then finished!
She topped it with a caramel syrup to really complete the flavor combinations.
The end result looks so amazing, and it’s a nice addition to an already special treat!
