Falling asleep can be very difficult for some people, which presents a very hard situation for them to deal with.
No sleep means little to no productivity, so falling asleep and staying asleep is something that many people would like to master.
Turns out there might be a miraculous trick for falling asleep, and all it takes is some patience, and careful breathing. Doctor Andrew Weil talks about his trick for getting a full rest, and it’s something everybody should try without question!
The trick is called the 4-7-8 breathe, and should be performed when you are ready to close your eyes.
Start out by touching your tongue in the “yoga position”, touching the ridge of tissue behind your upper front teeth.
Then, breath in for four seconds, hold it for a count of seven, then forcefully breath it out through a count of eight.
Repeat this process four times, and your body will become very relaxed.
Relaxation is more about just simply breathing correctly than many people might imagine Doctor Weil recommends partaking in this exercise at least twice a day, and doing it for four to six weeks to master it.
This exercise will help you fall asleep, curb cravings, calm your senses if you are in a bad mood, relieve high blood pressure, and calm anxiety at the same level that a prescribed pill would.
Of course, Doctor Weil says these positive effects will only appear after a month or two of practice, so start breathing, and start living and sleeping better!
