Ane of the many perks of attending Yale University is that you’re just a train ride away from New York City. Just hop onto a Metro North train at Union Station in New Haven, and in just a jiffy, you’re walking into Grand Central. I’ve taken this trip countless times when I want to escape the city and go home to Connecticut and enjoy my mom’s world-class mac and cheese casserole. In fact, I’m looking forward to taking this trip on Christmas Eve, just in time to curl up by the Christmas tree.
The Yale glee club took a Metro North Christmas journey this past Friday, too. They donned their holiday best to sing at the Yale University Club in Manhattan, bringing their cheeriest spirit and warmest voices with them.
On their way into the city, train conductor Bob McDonough noticed the large group boarding his train and filmed one video of them singing “Here We Come A Wassailing” on his morning shift, posting it to Facebook with the caption “Perk #122 of being a RR conductor: When you have The Yale Glee Club on your train and you ask them to sing a Christmas Carol… and they do!”
Then, as if this Christmas spirit wasn’t enough to make a person’s day, McDonough ended up driving the group of Yale-ies back to campus when their day had come to a close. This time, though, he wanted to be part of the Christmas fun.
He is, after all, a conductor…
It’s moments like these when people come together that really make Christmas the best.
