Woman Defends Her Son After A Stranger Calls Him “Repulsing”

It is always the job of a parent to instill body positivity into their child, and it is never too early to start. Knowing from the beginning of their life that they can be comfortable in their own skin is sure to boost the confidence levels of nearly any child.

Dallas Fowler believes that this resonates true, and tries to instill as much positivity into the life of her 2 year old son Jameus as she can. However, this act becomes more difficult at times, especially when strangers in public feel the need to make comments that would make her baby boy feel otherwise.

Little Jameus suffers from colon issues, and has had dozens of surgeries in just his two years of life. As a result, he now has stomas on his stomach, meaning there are visible bags protruding from his body. Over 500,000 Americans live with similar stoma bags on their bodies, but many people are still not aware of the condition.

When Dallas took Jameus with her on a quick shopping trip to Walmart, his shirt happened to slide up a small amount, allowing his stoma bags to be visible to the party behind them in line. Dallas says that the woman behind her “shrieked a little,” then asked how Dallas could, “let someone do that to him.”

Completely appalled at this behavior, Dallas quickly tried to explain the medical condition to the obviously rude woman. The woman responded with “[W]ell I am sorry but I just think that is so ‘repulsing,’ can you please keep his shirt down?”

Astounded at this response, Dallas removed herself from the confrontation, and instead chose to head to social media to take her stance.

“Please be kind and choose your words wisely, especially should you choose to comment about something that is none of your business,” she wrote. “Everyone is fighting a battle you know nothing about, and my son is winning his.”
