Yarn and q-tips turn this piece of cardboard into the cutest item any girl would love!
You don’t need to go to the store just to buy a new jewelry box. Instead, you can make one that’s cuter than any type you could buy, and the best part is you can use stuff that’s sitting around your house to make it.
All you need to make a DIY woven heart shaped box perfect for jewelry or other little trinkets is cardboard, yarn, and toothpicks!
The first thing you need to do is gather those three materials, plus a little piece of felt, glue, and yarn needle if you have one.
To make the adorable box, start by cutting out a piece of cardboard in the shape of a heart. You need to use a cardboard that’s at least a little bit thick.
Once you have your shape, squeeze a little glue onto the tip of a toothpick and press it into the edge of the shape.
Repeat that step until you’ve made a border of toothpicks around the entire heart.
Next, grab your yarn. If you have a needle, now is the time to use it, but it’s okay if you don’t.
Tie the end of the yarn around one of the toothpicks and then start weaving the string in and out, between every single toothpick stub.
Then, when you get halfway up the toothpicks, tie the string off
Before you add any more, string one pearl or another type of bead onto each individual toothpick.
Then, grab a new piece of yarn and start over wrapping for the second half.
When you get to the top, tie the string off once more and then add some sparkly trim to give the little box some added flare.
You should also go back and add the same trim you used on the top to the bottom, covering up the exposed cardboard.
On the inside of the box, cut a piece of felt the same color of the yarn and place it around the bottom to finish the look.
The result is so cute, and no one will ever be able tell that it was made out of cardboard and toothpicks.
